The word But negates everything in the proceeding statement. “I will be there but if someone shows up at my house I won’t be” this leaves your whole statement open to failure, kind of like saying you are going to try.

I seem to use the word But allot in my writing, I ether fix it by taking it out because normally it isn’t needed or assure myself that my proceeding statement should negated. But can be difficult a word to strike from your vocabulary. Be aware of that But word, I am cautiously starting to use “then again” in place of but. For me it is just another tool in the conscious efforts to program my subconscious mind.
